Why You Need To Take Bodybuilding Supplements In 2010

And Beyond…
Now, here’s a quote that I have used endlessly on this site and around the web
‘Always keep a good diet when using bodybuilding supplements. No protein supplement can replace a bad diet. it will only fill the body full of nutrients that it may lack.’
For you long term readers, I’m going to answer the question that I know you are about to ask.
But Shaun, didn’t you tell us that it would be enough if we ate 5-7 meals a day for our bodybuilding workouts?
Yes, I did!
But the reality is, you probably won’t stick to that week in week out, without having a day where you don’t eat 5-7 meals. This is especially true in this current day and age where most of us live very busy lives. I know for a fact that I don’t stick to 6 meals a day, EVERYDAY. I never have been able to, without making it feel like a chore. So how do you solve the problem?
By Taking Supplements
I’ve talked about supplements before on this site and you will find some talk about them in every other article. What I do try to do is talk about the supplements that actually work best from my own experience. in turn, that recommendation will help you save time and money, from having to test evey single supplement out there, and we all know there are MANY.
Another reason for choosing the ‘right supplements’ is to do some good for the economy. Instead of buying ‘this’ supplement and ‘that’ supplement, every other week. Choose a supplement that meets all of your needs and then by it in bulk. That will help keep fuel costs and packaging costs down as a whole. And again, that will help save you money. I don’t mean to sound like an environmentalist, but it’s always good to have the worlds best interest at heart.
Supplements = Speed
In addition to providing your body full of nutrients that it may lack, supplements will also provide your muscles with speedy growth.
We all know that our muscles need to be fed and then re-fed in order to grow. But they need to be re-fed efficiently. Supplements provide the foundation of that process.
What Your Body Needs
I have talked about what you need to take, what exercises you need to do and how you can tweak them. But I never have really talked about what your body ‘needs’ as a whole, in terms of supplement in take.
The Basics
You need a meal replacement shake
You need a high quality multivitiman
You need some vitamin C
How much?
For a bodybuilding person like yourself, around 3000 milligrams daily. The key thing to do here is just to make sure that you are reaching that amount throughout the course of the day.
Then you need a protein supplement

Whey Protein is still one of the best to take for rebuilding your muscles after a workout. And yes, I am still a fan of that black and red coloured tub you see over on the right side of this page >>>
People may argue back and fourth
‘Your body needs supplements’
‘No… if you eat the right foods, your body does not need supplements’
And some may argue that they can be dangerous, which is true. But not if you,
- Choose the right supplements
- Follow manufacturers instructions
But the reality is, you will need to take supplements in some way or form if you are taking up bodybuilding. If you don’t, you may find that your result building efforts may just be a long hard slog. But hey, to each their own.
Do you, or do you not use bodybuilding supplements?
See you in the comments.

You should be cautious when using supplements. Yes, there are many good ones to use but don’t depend too heavily upon them. Be sure to eat 6 balanced meals a day and only use the supplements as necessary! For more info visit my blog at: http://bodybuildingcoach-dave.com

I have had no real side effects. The only thing i might mention is that you can get a aggressive a little easier than before. But if you use it in the gym or to work out and not on your fellow people, then i wouldn’t worry about it.

Hi Dowlis
I too have had no real side effects, as I have mention here
http://www.stayfitbug.com/category/fitness-products/affordable-supplements-fitness-products
and controlled agression is the key, if agression does become an issue.

This is a great article. Supplements can be very dangerous but as the author said as long as you pick the right one you will be ok. After doing research I chose glycocarn and it works great. Every body is different and therefore not all supplements will work for everyone. Do some research and find out what is best for you. If you use the supplement correctly you should be fine and it will be safe.

I have been lifting weights for about 3 years now and about a year ago I hit a wall. I was not able to really increase in any of my exercises for several months, so I decided to try a new type of pre workout stack to see if it made any difference.
I picked the Dr Max Powers Anabolic Stack – Long story short – the 6 months or so since I have been taking it before my workouts my bench has gone up 60 pounds, dumbbell press up 30, curls up 20, and so on.
I would highly recommend this if you are looking to make gains or at the very least keep what muscle you have already worked to build. But make sure you drink ALOT of water with it because it helps…

I just started using Jack3d before my hockey games and it works amazing. I have endless amounts of energy but it taste is tough to take. No Xplode and Superpump tastse better but don’t work as well. Any suggestions on another pre workout that works as good as jack3d but tastes better?

Hi Ryan
Unfortunately, many of the most effective supplements and vitamins out there do taste like crap!
e.g cod liver oil (no flavor)
Jack3d is indeed one of the best out there as you know, which I also listed here
Bodybuilding Resources/
And others do indeed taste better. The only other one I know that works just as well, which arguably tastes better is,
Purple Wrath (Juicy Grape/ Lemonade)
Controlled Labs Purple Wrath, 45 Servings, Juicy Grape
To bare the taste a little more and for some electrolyte effectiveness, try it along side this as a pre/ during workout supplement
Gatorade (Prime)
Drink it when chilled too. The goal and the whole Stay-Fit Bug message is to make the bodybuilding lifestyle as pleasant as it can be. Inside and outside of our stomachs, so taste is an important thing for sure. I’ll be trying other things as time goes on, so be sure to keep an eye on the bodybuilding resources page or email updates.
