How the Fitness Industry is Training Women to Look Like Smaller Versions of Men & … What You Can Do About It!

February 1, 2011 by
Filed under Books, The Fitness Bug

I’m going to keep this short and sweet, because there is a video to watch after my little ramble here.

Now… that headline goes hand in hand with most of the video interviews I conducted with last year, with the likes of Miryah Jade Scott, Natalia Muntean, Kelly Rennie and others. Stay-Fit Bug does focus on the male reader first and foremost. However, the site also began to attract some female readers too. Most probably because of the related fitness ‘lifestyle’ topics that I have previously covered.

But over time I have come to learn that women want to look a certain way, and quite frankly screw their face up when they look at images of certain lady fitness pros.

These women who I have shown the images to don’t want the masculine 6 pacs and the overly ripped arms. They want to look like women ‘in shape’, and look like… well… women.

I haven’t really had the time to look into creating a product that solves that problem. But Rusty Moore has (Rusty is the author of the website fitnessbackbook.com and who I work with closely regarding web businesses and other aspects surrounding that).

Like I said, there’s a video to watch. So click the link below to get started to see what I’m talking about

You Need To Lose Fat First To Build Muscle!

July 5, 2010 by
Filed under Books, Stay-Fit Bug Shop, The Fitness Bug

I have been having a lot of conversations with many of you around the Stay-Fit Bug community in recent weeks and I have found out some cool things for sure.

I have been told that…

#1 The site is very usable, organized and information is easy to find ( Yet I’m still planning to keep on improving it).

#2 The information is easy to understand and not too technical (Especially for noobs a/k/a newbies – A readers words, not mine).

#3 The site kicks their ass (Good, it’s supposed to! Train insane anyone?).

#4 That many of you have annoying layers of fat around your body that you can’t seem to shift and is hampering your efforts to build that million dollar image.

Million Dollar Body Male/ Female

I’ve been told that quite often, fitness articles are too technical and have been written by a complete bofin (Nerd that doesn’t understand real people). So I’m happy that Stay-Fit Bugs ‘day one’ goal has come across well since inception.

That is…

No B.S in your face information that makes sense to everyday people.

Another thing I found is that many of you don’t have a high metabolism and that losing that extra layer of fat around your waist, lower abs, chest or thighs is a common goal for many of you, even though you aren’t fat per se. You just want the complete million dollar look (As pictured above), and so you should.

Now, if you are reading then there is a good chance that you may have read the Build A 6 Pac: From Flab To Flat ebook which contained the information that shows you what you need to do if your goal is to lose fat or to build muscle, regardless of your body type ( Turn to page 7). But you can’t do both at the same time.

Why?

Because what you are actually asking your body to do is break down fat and build muscle at the same time, which just confuses the hell out of it. You see, to lose fat you need to restrict your calories or expend more than needed for you to stay at your current weight, but that also means there are no calories for your body to use to build muscle. So no go. It’s do one or the other.

Note: The key here NOT to lose so much weight that causes you to fail at building lean muscle.

The goal here is fat loss and all of you facing the above scenario will obviously be at different stages in your progression. The ebook may have given you some key pointers, such as the ’12 great foods for abs’ , the exercises involved with that and how to go about structuring your workouts based on your body type. But I think you may need a more comprehensive guide than that to reach your ultimate goal. Or at least a guide you can refer to against what you’re currently doing. That’s why I’m introducing you to Justin Goff & Vic Magary’s (from gymjunkies.com) 31 Day Fat Loss Cure.

===> Click Here!

After reading this guide, it simply made sense to pass this information on to you, especially after the recent things I have found out about you.

Now, you WILL get the body that you desire, because you are a bonafide Stayfitbugger! And you know what it means to train insane! But if you are still struggling, even after the things I have taught you, then you need to check out the 31 Day Fat Loss Cure.

===> Click Here!

Once you do succeed, make sure you jump back on the Stay-Fit Bug train to ‘build muscle’, because that is where the real fun begins… right?

Of course it is!

See you in the comments.

P.S Ways to have workout fun is coming this week, so keep your eyes peel.

If You Believe It, Follow And Read It, You Deserve It! The Bodybuilding Lifestyle

June 30, 2010 by
Filed under Books, Stay-Fit Bug Shop, The Fitness Bug

I’ve been having quite a lot of personal interactions with a lot of you recently and it has come to my attention that many of you wish to do great things with your lives and ‘become somebody’.

Not to just build a great body and look like a million dollars.

But to build a great body, look like a million dollars and make a million dollars!

And my answer to that…

If you believe it, follow and read it, you deserve it! The bodybuilding lifestyle

I guess that solidifies the points I made in this post,

15 Things Successful Bodybuilders And Successful Entrepreneurs Have In Common

And now I’m going to give you a kick start that will set you on that path.

#1 Building A Great Body

We already know that building a great body will make you look like a million dollars and there is definitely no shortage of information on how to do that on Stay-Fit Bug. But you already knew that I’m sure 😉

However, looking great is just one bonus of the lifestyle. There are so many more benefits than just looking great in order to attract some ass from the opposite sex…

1.  People will perceive and respond to you like you are worth a million dollars.

That will sometimes attract those that are already adopting the million dollar mindset – Successful people ( I didn’t say rich… I said successful. There is a difference!) The Law of attraction is at work here. I’ll explain shortly.

2.  You will inevitably become an inspiration to others in your personal network.

This can build wealth. Not money, but wealth. In simple terms you create valuable favour for a favour relationships.

Example

” I’m currently taking a trip to L.A to attend a very rare and golden opportunity. I have money Mr successful business man/ woman… friend. But it won’t come to fruition for the next 4 months. Care to sponsor me?

What do you think the answer will be If you’ve inspired or brought value to that persons life, which all stemmed from building a rocking body???

3.  Better Sex

Ok, there is are benefits to attracting the opposite sex…

Exercise increases circulation, which helps with muscle endurance, strength and flexibility. It also helps prevent erectile dysfunction and impotence.

4.  Less Stress

Exercise releases endorphins which make you feel happier and more relaxed.

5.  Helps Fight Disease

Exercise helps fight cholesterol, heart disease and osteoporosis.

6.  Helps Lose Weight

Exercising increases your metabolism, which helps you lose weight and keep it off!

7.  Better Immune System

Exercise strengthens the heart and lungs and slows down decay of the immune system, making for a healthier body.

8.  Better Sleep

Exercise creates a natural dip in body temperature 5-6 hours after working out, helping you fall asleep faster and have a deeper sleep.

9. Reduces Blood Pressure

Exercise not only reduces high blood pressure, it helps prevent it.

10.  Prevents Cancer

Exercising could regularly help prevent colon and breast cancer.

11.  Prevents Diabetes

Exercise reduces the risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

12.  Longer Life Expectancy

Exercise prolongs life. People who exercise regularly live longer.

13.  And of course, it can lead to career opportunities.

#2 Build Your Bodybuilding Network

– Because you become what you think about.

– You become who you socialize with.

You can do this via this site, social networks, networking events or wherever like minded people are present. Just know that those in your chosen network need to have the same mind set as you. This will help you greatly, and this has a lot to do the laws of attraction.

If you want to know more on that, read this book.

(Which ‘I’ believe is about a 50/50 split… in the world of reality)

– You now look like a million dollars

– You are now on the path to making a million dollars (How long it takes is not an issue)

But…

#3 Make sure you look out for No.1!

I already know that many of you aspire to do great things, regardless of your age and background, and you really should strive to do what you love and go big with it where you can and where the opportunity arises.

And why the hell not!

It is your life after all. It is a great thing to be making a difference on this planet we call earth, whether that be helping others or any other thing that is deemed great. But the ultimate rule still stands

Look out for number 1

For a couple of reasons

1) You can’t plan to help anyone unless you have some solid foundation or backbone to your entirety. You don’t have to be the complete person that you wish to be, no. But some part of your being needs to be solid. Usually in the form of knowledge or Personal wealth.

“The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for.”

— Bob Marley

2) Change is a guaranteed constant in this world and the life you see before your eyes today may not be the life you see tomorrow. People come and go, circumstances change and many other things. Because of this you need to be ready. You need to do you and adjust when these things happen. Nobody likes it and there’s not much we can do about it, but this is another reason why you need to look out for no.1, because the only ones that will be left standing will be those that are true to YOU when that change does come.

There are loads of books out there that you can read that can guide you on this path, and I’ve mentioned one of the good ones here too (@ Law of Attraction). But everything mentioned here is what I would consider the ‘core’ start of what you need to do if your goal is to improve yourself for wealth and riches… not just a rocking body. Or you could just simply go with the flow, not take yourself ‘too’ seriously and live a great and happy bodybuilding lifestyle, which in the end is all that really matters.

… FTW (For The Win – For those not up-to-date with today’s slang ;))

See you in the comments.

Ultimate Forearm Training Guide

I was recently introduced to a video by a strength coach in Pennsylvania named Jedd Johnson, and the information literally blew me away!

Just in case you forgot, or are a newer subscriber/reader, Jedd Johnson is the one who did a guest post over on the site back in late 2009.

Killer Compound Exercises

Stay-Fit Bugs focus is based on innovative ways to build muscle and how to have fun while doing it. But Jedds focus over at Dieselcrew.com is much more focused on grip strength. I mean, I’ve touched on grip strength quite a few times over on the site in articles such as,

Unique Hand Grip Exercises

And you really do need to up the ante on your grip strength if you intend to increase and improve your performance in your workouts. That is in both weightlifting AND bodyweight exercises. Because that is where you lay the foundation for your strength gaining efforts for months or even years to come.

Jedd loves baseball!

In fact, he played throughout his childhood and even played for two years at college before injuries halted his career. Ever since then he has devoted himself as a certified strength and conditioning specialist and has been studying how to build grip and forearm strength.

The lower arms are a huge part of the game of baseball and today, Jedd has released his Ultimate Forearm Training Guide,

which runs at 400 pages deep full of exercises and techniques to help you build up your forearm and grip strength in your workouts.. This guide is huge and packed with a ton of information, yet Jedd still does not think that’s enough. He’s decided to throw in double and extra beyond that. Goodies that compliment the activities performed within the original guide.

That sounds great Shaun… but this is Baseball. I don’t want to learn how to play Baseball. Why send this to ME?

Well, that’s the whole point. There are many very effective exercises and techniques performed in many various sports. Those of which you can benefit from greatly. Just like the gymnast examples I have used in past articles for bodyweight exercises.

I am no expert at baseball, but Jedd is. And his knowledge on building grip strength far surpasses mine. Stay-Fit Bug is all about providing unique ways to build muscle, and if I can provide that knowledge with a product other than my own, a product where I find true value, then I will do so, for the benefit of yourselves.

The stand outs:

  • Includes detailed information on how to keep the lower arms healthy, methods for injury recovery, how to make several pieces of home made grip equipment, as well as reviews of Grip Training equipment available on the market today.
  • 5 other manuals on Grip Training that make this the perfect package for any baseball player. How to make and use two pieces of home made equipment, 20 Grip Training Workouts, Essential Forearm Stretches, and how to get started designing your own year-long strength training programs.
  • PLUS 3 other huge bonuses in the package – Grip Considerations for the Bench Press (video), his 8-week Grip Training Program Video and PDF, and Smitty’s awesome Explosive Med Ball Conditioning.

Plus two solid workouts which you can download right NOW!

Here: Ultimate Forearm Training Workouts (2 workouts)

If you’re looking for a secret weapon that can give you an edge on the diamond, then you need to checkout all of the above.

Ultimate Forearm Training for Baseball < = Pick it up right now for the introductory price of just $77

(Note: All of the extra bonuses listed here are available for ONE WEEK ONLY)

So make sure you don’t miss out!!

And now some words from the man himself…

Remember!

This guide may have a core focus for helping baseball players, but this guide is pure gold since stayfitbug.com is all about ‘innovative’ ways to build muscle. A guide that I would have loved to provide myself, yet lack the knowledge to do so.

No one has the understanding of grip and forearm training like Jedd has, and this introductory price won’t be available forever, so here’s the link again to go get it.

Bodybuilding Resources – What supplements should I take to build muscle

Bodybuilding Resources

Ready to begin your journey for REAL bodybuilding success?

We all know how much it costs to hire a personal trainer! A personal trainer would be great for everyone to have, but unfortunately, not everyone has deep pockets like the rich and famous. Fortunately for you, you’ll be glad to know that you CAN build a body like those who can afford a personal trainer,

  • Without having to break the bank
  • And within the comfort of your own home

Below you will find product comparisons that I highly recommend to help you take your muscles to the next level. These are the products, which I have found to work best to take your muscles to the next level, all through trial and error. I have listed comparisons of each type of product that is needed to assist you on your bodybuilding journey. You can then gauge which one can fulfill your needs in regards to price, features and/or your current level in this bodybuilding game.

What supplements should I take to build muscle?

Protein Supplements

Which Protein Supplement to Buy?

Protein and carbs are the two nutrients that you will have to refill as you workout and pump your muscles. It’s common knowledge that lifting weights actually makes you lose weight. In order to make them grow you’ll have to shock them AND feed them… with food. Sounds simple, just eat decent meals 5-7 times a day. But we are talking about life in the 21st century here, where time is often not in our favor to eat 5-7 times a day. If you don’t eat, you won’t grow. Simple!

So if you are serious about building muscle in today’s world you better start taking supplements to help refill those nutrients that you lose during your weightlifting workouts. And we begin with protein supplements.

Below are supplements, which I’ve personally tried at some point during the past 10 – 12 years.

I have also been provided  discount coupon codes for all Stay-Fit Bug readers on selected items.  All you have to do is enter the coupon code on the purchase page before you buy to save you even more money!

RED = Stay-Fit Bug Favorite!

Note:

Please be aware that there are vendors out there that sell ‘fake’ supplements. Because of this, I have made sure that I have affiliated with well known and trusted retailers of the products listed on this page (Bodybuilding.com and Amazon.com), and in which I have managed to obtain discounts in some cases. So if you do find any cheaper prices else where, make sure you question the vendors authenticity and reputation. Paying extra for reassurance, trust and more importantly your health… can go a long way!

Multi-Vitamins

Which Multi-Vitamins to Buy?

Going back to what I mentioned earlier, our bodies need to be fed correctly if we wish to build REAL muscle. This can be done by eating GOOD food 5 – 7 times a day. But to take your muscles to the next level you really do have to supplement them to the next level. Real food is good, but it won’t be enough. Your body will need super doses of amino acids, carbs, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids (EFAs) in order to grow the way that I know you want them to grow, and the multi-vitamins listed below will help you do that, without question!

A note about Vitamin C

We need to take vitamin C because unlike other mammals, we don’t make it naturally. So we need to consume it in the form of our diet. 60mgs was the old school recommended amount to take, but this is 2010 where a demanding lifestyle has hit us all. For most people, the new recommended daily amount is 2 grams per day. So 3 grams per day is about right for us fitness freaks. If you do take too much, your body will let you know (Via the toilet seat!). Either way, vitamin C is a must!

Bodyweight Exercise Equipment

Which Bodyweight Exercise Equipment to Workout With?

Bodyweight exercises are great for quite a few reasons,

  • Build great functional strength
  • Work out from home
  • Work out and maintain muscle mass while on vacation
  • Target muscle groups that you may miss with free weights and machine weights

It’s also what I started out with 10-12 years ago back as a broke student.  But when you add any of the products below to your bodyweight workouts, you really can maximize the above points to ensure that bodyweight exercises help you build that body you know you deserve. I’ve used or still use all of these products. Take your pick! They are all great in their own way. How to Choose the Right Dumbbells? If you are just starting out, it can be quite confusing on which weights you should buy for your home gym. If so, checkout this post, Vinyl Weights or Cast Iron Weights? Now, although the default weights are,

  • Vinyl
  • Cast Iron
  • Chrome

You may want to upgrade your dumbbells and invest in a pair of Powerblocks or Bowflex dumbbells. Both are good, although I do favor the Powerblocks. Why these dumbbells?

  • Save space
  • Easy to transport
  • Easier to change weight during exercises

There are other bonuses, but those are the stand out ones. You’ll find what you need below, whichever your current needs are.

The Books

There are so many books to choose from out there , I need some direction! It has been said that I write good articles (Thank you for those who have praised). But I am no best selling author… yet 🙂 . But there are some great books out there that I have read that will help you on your bodybuilding journey. I’ve read all of these, so take your pick

Gourmet Nutrition Cookbook

Before I picked this book up, I did do a lot of searching around as there are a lot of ‘bad’ books out there and this wasn’t a usual recommendation from a friend. The first thing I noticed is that the books format is like a ‘cookbook’ and a ‘manual’ and if you are a single guy/girl or not a good cook like myself… I’d say, get this book! The authors are the main reason I like this book. They go out of their way to give step-by-step guidance on how to actually process the meals outlined properly.

Scrawny to Brawny- The Complete Guide to Building Muscle the Natural Way

Since starting this site I have talked quite a bit about going from ectomorph to a daddy mammoth. If my advice to you so far hasn’t been enough, then this is a gem you can stash away and retrieve whenever you don’t have an encouraging voice to turn to.

Gourmet Nutrition Cookbook

Fitness books

As i have stated before, I’m not really much of a book reader. What i tend to do is take excerpts from books and save them on to my laptop or iphone for reference to read later on. On the home page i have a rule:

BUGS RULES: #5 It’s OK to pig out on food sometimes, you are human after all. What’s the point of it all without a little rule breaking!

This i do believe. But one must still remain fit and focused. A solution to those visiting this site would be this book. They go out of their way to give step by step guidance on how to actually process the meals outlined properly. Some highlights:

  • Building your Gourmet Nutrition – Everything you need to know about putting together a solid kitchen.
  • Gourmet Recipes – 101 recipes that taste great and anyone can make (no previous cooking skills required).
  • Cooking Tips – 18 cooking tips to make meal preparation a lot easier.
  • Nutritional Facts and Strategies -25 hints, tips, and bits of nutritional information to enhance your nutritional knowledge.

There really aren’t any stand out negatives that i think i need to warn you about here, so that is a good and rare thing for sure. The last thing I’ll say which is good is that it comes in and e-book format, so you can put it on your iphone/ Sony reader/ Kindle for reading on the move or if you travel.

Feel free to get back to me once you have it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

The Complete Guide to Building Muscle the Natural Way (Paperback)

[amazon-product alink=”2929EF” bgcolor=”#ffffff” bordercolor=”000000″ height=”240″ region=”us” tracking_id=”stayfbug-20″ width=”120″]1594860882[/amazon-product]

Since starting this site i have talked quite a bit about going from ectomorph to a daddy mammoth. If my advice to you so far hasn’t been enough, then this is a gem you can stash away and retrieve when ever you don’t have an encouraging voice to turn to. I’m not much of a book reader myself, but this one held my attention as i was reading excerpts from a friends copy, so i got my own and started to read it from the beginning.
My number one problem with the book… is the meal plans outlined get a bit vague when it comes to your own caloric needs. Plus, the author constantly pushes his website in the book.

The other issue I have with the book, is lack of organization. He uses terms like “the above table”….when the table is on another page. There is a lot of flipping around in the book too. Grrrr!

I like the style of writing this author has. It’s comical while still keeping to the point. It is very “Men’s health” like in style.

Other than those small issues, Scrawny to Brawny isn’t just a book… as i said, it is a book you can turn to when ever that encouraging voice isn’t present.

If what i have outlined above relates to you and if you still love the ‘physical’ book, give it a shot.
